Aurora Launches The Self Guiding Service In Texas

Autonomous Aurora Innovation Vehicle Technology reports that it has successfully launched a Texas truck-free driving, making the first company to develop trucks, heavy duty trucks for commercial use on public roads in the US

The launch comes just like Aurora hits its deadline. In October, the company delayed its scheduled debut in 2024 until April 2025. The debut also comes five months after the opposing robotic Kodiak Robotics delivered the first autonomous trucks to a commercial customer for businesses without off -road environments.

Aurora says he started running loads this week between Dallas and Houston with Hirschbach Motor Lines and Uber Freight customers, and has completed 1,200 miles on a single driver truck so far. The company plans to create “dozens of trucks self-guiding” and expand to El Paso and Phoenix until the end of 2025.

Aurora will also continue to carry “more than 100 cargo loads” for customers each week with a fleet of more than 30 supervised autonomous trucks, according to a company spokesman.

Aurora’s plan is to start the driver’s non -driver businesses, holding, maintaining and securing her own trucks for customers. The company is working with Volvo Trucks and Paccar strategic partners to develop self-guiding trucks for large volume manufacturing. Aurora expects its customers to buy these trucks directly from manufacturers from 2027 or earlier.

TechCrunch has come to find out if the system needed to apply a sweater maneuver or required remote human help, although CEO Chris Urmson said in a statement that the Aurora driver “performed perfectly” during his inaugural trip.

Aurora’s commercial launch comes at a difficult time. Truck self-leadership companies have long been the necessity of their technology due to lack of labor force trucks over long distances and expected shipping increase. Trump’s invoices have changed these prospects, at least in the short term. According to an April report by the Analysis Company of the Commercial Vehicle Industry InvestigationThe cargo is expected to be reduced in the US this year, as tumors and consumer costs.

Responding to the way it is expected to influence Aurora’s business, an Aurora spokesman pointed out that the truck is facing other challenges, including operating expenses and inadequately used assets.

Aurora will mention the results of the first quarter next week, that is, when it also shares how it expects that today’s trade war will affect its future businesses. TechCrunch has arrived to find out more about how invoices affect Aurora’s business.

At the moment, Aurora will probably focus on continuing the proof of the security case without a driver and to work with state and federal legislators to adopt favorable policies to help her expand.

In early 2025, Aurora suffered a lawsuit against federal security regulatory authorities after a court denied his request to relieve a security requirement involving the installation of warning triangles on the road when a truck has to pull the motorway – which is difficult to take.

In order to remain in accordance with this rule and to develop yet another driver service, it would make sense for Aurora to have a car that drives human trucks whenever they are in operation.

A Aurora spokesman said the company did not require lead vehicles, hunting vehicles or police escort for businesses without a driver. He has not yet explained how Aurora operates without a driver, while still complying with federal security regulations.

This article has been informed with more information and comments from a Aurora representative.
