Monday, bluesky announced Three updates to improve alerts, allowing users to personalize their experience while eliminating their alert center and reducing unnecessary alerts.
Updates include the ability to obtain activity alerts for specific accounts, as well as options to adapt the notice preferences to check the notifications you receive. For example, users can only be notified when some accounts respond to them.
Bluesky users can now navigate the settings and then alert to adjust the notifications of various interactions, including new fans, sympathies, answers, reports, quotes and repetitions. There is also a “anything else” option, which covers general alerts, such as when one joins through a starting package or notifications verification.
Each option can be adjusted to apply only to the accounts that follow or to everyone and can also be turned off entirely.
In addition, users can now receive alerts when one likes their content or reposts they have shared. This feature is especially useful for people who were mainly rebuilt instead of creating original content, helping them feel more dedicated.
Bluesky said that the previous “priority alerts” had been replaced. This feature allowed users to filter the notifications to receive updates only from accounts that follow. To achieve the same result, users need to change the answer, report and give notifications to “people you only follow”.
The new activity alert mode resembles those on platforms such as X and yarn, allowing users to choose to notify each time an account publishes something new or responds to a post.
To enable this feature, visit a profile and press the bell icon next to the sequence button to receive alerts each time the account publishes a new post. There is also a separate option for answering alerts.
Users can manage their activity alerts in settings by removing accounts from their list if they no longer wish to receive updates.
One warning is that accounts can completely turn off this feature, which means that users may not be able to activate activity alerts for each account they wish to follow. Account owners can also allow activity alerts only for the people who follow.
