Sales of Tesla’s Cybertruck have collapsed from their top last year, at the point where the Hulking (and expensive) GMC Hummer EV exceeds the polarizing steel curiosity in the second trimester.
Tesla sold just 4,306 Cybertrucks in the second quarter, just shy 4,508 Hummers that GMC moved in the same period, according to New data from Cox Automotive.
Both were hit by Ford’s F-150 Lightning, which once again became the electric truck with the best sales in the US in the first quarter, hitting Cybertruck. But even Ford’s offer is struggling. The 5,842 Lightnings sold to Q2 was the lowest quarterly total for the company in over a year.
To be fair, the GMC Hummer includes sales of both the truck and the SUV variant, although there are very few that differentiate the two. In another way, the Hummer EV SUV version still looks more like a truck than a typical sports vehicle does.
Rivian also competes with his own electric truck, the R1T. The company sold just 1,752 of them in the last quarter, from 3,309 in the same period last year.
But Cybertruck had the biggest fall from Harry Makran. Following the delivery of the first units in December 2023, the company started selling them seriously in early 2024. Sales reached a high 17,000 in the third quarter of 2024, but fell as quickly, as shown in the diagram above.
Whether the fall is due to the damage to the brand caused by Elon Musk and his participation in Trump’s administration or the fact that Cybertruck is still much more expensive than the price of $ 40,000 he promised when he revealed EV in 2019, is difficult to say.

The company, at one point, predicted that it would make 250,000 Cybertrucks a year and now has a huge amount of unused capacity at the Texas plant as a result.
As a calf Once he said about the glamorous ev: “We look at our own grave with cybertruck.”
