Google pulls AI Gemini’s assistant from the main Google app for iOS devices. The move is intended to encourage users to download the autonomous Gemini application, which would allow Google to compete more directly with other AI chatbots facing consumers such as Chatgpt, Claude or Purplexity. However, the change could also risk a reduction in the range of Gemini, as the Google application is already used by millions and many do not have enough incentives to download other new mobile applications.
The technological giant warned customers of changing through an email that warned that “Gemini is no longer available in the Google application”.
Email suggested that anyone who wanted to still use Gemini on iOS download the Gmini app from the App Store. This application started with iOS users worldwide at the end of last year, but so far, Gemini has continued to be available in the main Google application.
With Gemini for iOS, people will be able to participate in vocal conversations with the AI assistant via Gemini Live. Connect Google apps such as search, YouTube, maps and Gmail with Gemini. Ask questions and investigate issues. Schedule travel; get AI summaries and deep diving. Creating images. And more. Users can interact with twins through text, voice or using the camera.
Email also reminds users that Gemini can still make mistakes, so users have to continue double control their answers.
Customers wishing to upgrade the paid subscription that provides access to Gemini Advanced can also do so through the iOS app, where Google One Ai Premium Plan is offered as a in -app purchase.
If a iOS customer tries to access Gemini through the main Google app, he will see a full -screen message that says “Gemini now has his own app” and links to the App Store Download.
It is a dangerous bet on Google’s side to try to push users to download an application instead of continuing to provide functionality within the app already on their phones. Although it can facilitate the rapid appearance of new AI features, it is likely that there will be some rejection in the use of twins, as some inevitably do not make the switch.
