Openai unveiled new API updates on Dev’s day Monday, introducing the GPT-5 Pro, its latest language model, the new Sora 2-video model and a smaller, cheaper voice model.
The updates were part of a series of announcements addressed to Wooing developers in the OpenAI ecosystem, including the launch of a agent construction tool and the ability to create applications in Chatgpt.
The addition of the GPT-5 Pro can call for construction manufacturers of building funding, legal and health care-industry that need “high accuracy and depth of reasoning”, according to Openai Sam Altman’s chief executive.
Altman also noted that voice capabilities will be necessary in the future, as it quickly becomes one of the primary ways people use to interact with AI. To this end, Openai begins the “GPT-Realtime mini”, a smaller, cheaper API voice model that supports low delay flow and speech flow interactions. The new model is 70% cheaper than Openai’s Previous advanced voice model But promises the “same voice quality and expressiveness”.
Finally, creators involved in the OpenAI programmaker ecosystem can now take advantage of Sora 2 in the API preview. Openai released Sora 2, the latest audio and video generator last week alongside the Sora app, a Tiktok competitor full of short videos created by AI. The Sora app allows users to produce videos from themselves, friends, or anything based on a prompt and to share it through a Tiktok algorithmic power supply.
“[Developers] Now you have access to the same model that dominates Sora 2 video outings to your application, “Altman said.
Sora 2 is based on its previous generation with more realistic, natural consistent scenes with synchronized sound and greater creative control – from a detailed camera direction to stylized graphics.

“For example, you can get the iPhone view and ask Sora to extend it to a sweeping, cinematic plan,” Altman said. “But one of the most exciting things we work is how good the new pairs of models sound with graphics, not only speech, but rich sound landscapes, environmental sound, synchronized results based on what you see.”
Sora 2 is mounted as a tool for the development of the idea, be it a starting point for an advertisement based on the general atmosphere of a product, or a Mattel designer that converts a sketch into a game idea-an Altman example provided on Dev Day that sheds light on the Openai Agreement with Barbie.
