The Openai SORA application for AI videos is a viral blow, despite being only for an invitation for now and is limited to users in the US and Canada when launching. On the first day, Sora saw 56,000 downloads and is now ranked as the first overall application on the US App Store, according to new appfigures Appfigures Appigures.
The company estimates that Sora’s iOS application pulled a total of 164,000 facilities during the first two days, September 30 and 1 October.
The Day-One Figure sets Sora’s debut before the performance of other major AI launchers, including Claude and Microsoft’s Microsoft Copilot, and puts it at the same level as Xai’s launch. In the meantime, the Openai Chatgpt and Google’s Gemini iOS applications had a little stronger launches, each reaching at least 80,000 downloads on the first day.
Since Sora is still only an invitation, this may not be the fairer comparison, we will admit. It is likely that the new video app could have attracted yet more Facilities if it was open to all users.
Despite this limitation, it is a fairly strong appearance for the new version, indicating the demand for video tools AI in the hands of consumers in a social networking experience. (This is too much for the removal of some in Openai, who want the company to focus on resolving tougher problems that benefit humanity, but who says that humanity does not benefit from Openai Sam Altman’s Deepfakes who asks, “Are My Piggies enjoying them?”
To compare Sora’s timely success with other AI applications, Appfigures had to perform an analysis that only examined other US and Canadian shooting. This is due to the fact that different AI applications on the market have sought different launch strategies. For example, Chatgpt initially started on iOS and confined it to US users at the time, while Grok limited his release only to iOS in the US, Australia and India. In the meantime, it did not show that there were geographical restrictions when it first brought Claude application to iOS last year.
For more than a comparison of apples in apples, Appfigures dug the numbers to focus only on US downloads, as well as those in Canada, if the app was available there during launch.

He found that Chatgpt and Gemini had larger launches than Sora, with 81,000 and 80,000 daily iOS shots, respectively. Sora tied to Grok for day facilities, at 56,000. And easily won the launches from AI Apps Claude and Copilot. The first pulled in 21,000 daily shooting, while the latter saw only 7,000.
Sora also hit the US store’s top charts, making it a total top of No. 3 until the second day. For a comparison, Chatgpt reached No. 1 on the second day, while Grok was No. 4, Gemini was No. 6, Copilot was No 19 and Claude was No. 78.
