Smartwatch missions to India sank for the first time in 2024, as consumers were removed from cheap, unknown brands. However, Apple dropped the wider trend with a reported 2.4x increase for the year.

Separation signs occurred last year as the market was flooded with unknown brands. The trend influenced established domestic players, slowing down the rhythm of innovation as a result.
As the wider market fell, Apple Watch saw a 141% increase in its missions last year. This 57% reduction development for the company in 2023, according to Counterpoint.
The Counterpoint Anshika Jain analyst told TechCrunch that the Apple Watch saw an upptick last year, as “some experienced users gradually moved to advanced smartwatches” for better health ideas, integration of smartphone and other features that are absent on cheaper devices.
“We expect this growing trend will continue in 2025,” he added.
The increase in Apple Watch missions is aligned with the expansion of the iPhone market to the country. Apple appeared as one of the top five smartphone sellers in India last year, with about a 10% share in the 4th quarter.
