During his lower year of study abroad, Max Morganroth traveled to 30 countries, mainly flying to businesses and the first grade. His jet regulation was almost entirely funded by the airlines he gathered through MILES ‘s strategic card and acquisition applications.

Morganroth told TechCrunch that almost everyone who knew they “begged” to teach them how to get free flights through Airline Miles programs, a term called “hacking travel”. However, most people in their circle, including Wharton colleagues, either do not qualify for the best airline reward credit cards or did not have the time to maximize their mile conversions for optimal flights.

With marketing credit cards and sharing fees with banks, frequent brochure programs have been made Important revenue generators For airlines. However, according to Morganroth, about 70 million Americans do not have a sufficient credit history to access these reward plans.

During his trips, Morganroth discovered that in Hong Kong people do not need to open credit cards to earn miles on the Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles program. “Miles are treated like a second currency,” he said. “Go to 7-Eleven to buy a bottle of water. You earn miles of Asia. You can open a bank account and earn a cash rate as well as miles for your savings.

Morganroth saw the opportunity to create a program similar to Asia Miles, where consumers could win miles in various airlines when shopping in some stores. His proposal to airlines was that they could use a larger demographic consumer, especially Gen Z, a generation that wants to travel, but still lacks a established credit.

After graduating, Morganroth, now 22, worked with Arhan Chhabra, a Harvard abandonment, and the twin began to build WanderA boot that claims to be the first universal miles dedication program.

Of course, it’s not exactly the first one. The Rewards American Express, for example, allows users Redeem points with multiple airlinesAnd locations like Expedia offer points that can be used for various airline flights. But multiple aircraft programs are still rare.

Rove entered the winter of 2024 batch of Y Combinator and proceeded to fly around the world, where they hit the Mile 11 Airlines programs, including Air France-Klm, Aeromexico, Finnair and Qatar Airways.

These corporate relationships, which were previously only available mainly to big bank credit card issuers, helped Rove raise $ 2 million from investors, including YC, General Catalyst and Soma Capital.

Rove’s dedication program allows airlines to expand the lucrative business activity of miles to millions of consumers, Morganroth said.

But instead of allowing airlines to share credit card fees, Rove gives them a way to make money through subsidiaries with over 7,000 traders through the Rove Shopping expansion for Google Chrome. This is a business model that is similar to honey and rakuten.

Morganroth explained that shopping -gained points can be converted into miles of airlines, which are more valuable than their equivalent in cash.

In addition to the subsidiary marketing program, Rove also offers its users for hotel reservations.

In fact, Morganroth said points from a $ 1,000 hotel accommodation could be worth a return ticket to Europe from the United States, a flight that could then be used for the same trip if the hotel reservation would not be returned. Hotel reservations are so valuable because some hotels share 40% of their sales as a commission. Instead of chewing this profit, Rove gives all his share of these profits to the user in the form of miles.

Users can combine the Rove Miles earned in hotel reservations with miles from market expansion and even credit card miles if they have a card earning airlines.

The complicated starting plan may seem complicated, but Morganroth says that acquiring miles through Rove is simple, since users are booking hotels on the platform or store using Rove market expansion.

When users are ready to close flights with their miles, Rove’s travel gate helps them find the best flight offers. And while Rove has worked with only 11 airlines, starting users can book the trip award to about 140 carriers, as it is often possible to transfer miles to an airline company to its subsidiaries in another area.

Rove is available to anyone, but Morganroth believes that his offer is the most attractive to young adults.

“Gen Z wants to travel more than any other demographic, but he has little access to tools like what really make it cheaper,” he said. “They no longer have to wait until they are 28 years old. They have five years of credit history and $ 700 to get one of these cards. They can just download a Chrome extension, close any of their existing trips through us and will be in the game immediately.”
