The Ride-Hail giant and the tradition of Uber introduce cheap walks along the busy runways during the week’s travel hours in major US cities-a solution to a world that feels, for most people, more expensive every day.

Starting on Wednesday, riders in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco will be able to save 50% of the price of a Uberx trip with the new characteristic “Route Share”.

The company has announced the route share and other new features and discounts designed to help customers save money on walks and deliveries at the GO-Get Annual event. The goal is to attract and maintain a loyal customer base that continues to use the Uber application despite external financial pressure.

Traffic buses will drive between pre -set stops every 20 minutes, according to Sachin Kansal, head of Uber’s products. He noted that there would be dozens of routes in every launch city – such as Williamsburg and Midtown in New York. Routes, selected based on Uber’s extensive data on popular travel standards, may have one or two additional stops to pick up other passengers. To get started, riders should only share the route with up to two other colleagues.

Riders can close a seat anywhere from seven days to 10 minutes before a scheduled receipt and the application will provide them with instructions to take them from home to the corner where they will be received.

Uber is based on the same underlying technology it uses for Uber Share, the common walks they offer where riders can get 15% to 30% from the cost of a Uberx ride with others. Kansal told TechCrunch that Uber is completing millions of communal trips annually and has seen more grip recently as riders are looking for more ways to save. Therefore, a route share.

“Due to the size of our network, both on the part of consumers and the driver’s side, and our basic matching and market technology, allows us to do so and put many people in the same car, while creating effectiveness and predictability to move them,” he said.

Uber envisions a future where the share of the route could qualify for before tax benefits. However, as a spokesman noted, the company should find a way to match these Uber XL vehicles. This is due to the fact that only six seats will meet the eligibility requirements.

A possible development of the route share will include autonomous vehicles, especially in chaotic cities such as New York, where car self-leaders have not been tested.

Uber has partnerships with 18 AV companies and during the delivery of the first quarter earnings last week, the company said it has increased at an annual 1.5 million AV mobility and route on the Uber network.

One of the most recent Uber’s AV partners is Volkswagen. The two are planning to work together to add autonomous versions of VW’s ID. Buzz Ad Electric Vehicles in the Uber app – especially for common walks – starting with Los Angeles in 2026.

“You can also see a natural expansion from us to be able to bring a path to stand -alone vehicles, too,” Kansal said. “[Route Share] It has many advantages for the autonomous vehicle. It is a very well defined route, so the pickups and drops are predictable. ”

Each of the events of Uber has an issue. Last year, it focused on ways to help people spend more time together. This year, with the financial uncertainty of President Trump’s invoices, mass redundancies throughout the world of technology and AI coming for all our jobs, Uber focuses on saving costs for riders. In the process, Uber hopes to create a predictable cash flow and adhesion that holds Uber riders.

“After all, what we have heard very loudly and clearly is people feeling very uncertain. People feel overwhelmed and people feel prices in many different social strata and there is this need and desire to make more affordable choices,” Kansal said. “So, everything we announce is widely focused on how we make life more accessible to them.”

One of the new features of Uber is “Ride Passes”, which riders can use to “protect their price for a one -hour window each day on their selected routes”. There are two ways in which it will work. Either riders can pay $ 2.99 to lock in a price on a particular route, or they can pay in advance and buy a bunch of prepaid trips. They can buy five, 10, 15 or 20 walks for an “even deeper discount”.

The price lock will be available for riders in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Nasville, Orlando, Phoenix, San Francisco and Washington, starting on Wednesday, with the rest of the US. In the autumn, the prepaid passages will be available for adolescents.

In Uber eats the side of things, Uber goes deeper into her collaboration with OpenTable and begins a feature called Dine Out, which allows customers in the US, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australian books through the Uber application. When maintained (either in the Uber app or in the openable application), they will get a discount on a Uber ride in the restaurant. In addition, Opentable members will soon be able to use their points in Uber and Uber Eats – not as opposed to Uber’s collaboration with Delta Air Lines.

These types of agreements could offer savings for riders, especially during cutting -edge demands, when over -pricing pricing. But they are probably more beneficial to people who often use Uber service. Prepaid packages often feel cheaper because of the prior discounts, but riders could also overestimate how much they will use them.

Uber pricing strategy is also not transparent, and some reports They have suggested that riders with prepaid credit or gift cards receive higher seats compared to those who pay per ride. (Jokes, every time I change my payment method from my personal card to my business card, the price of the route jumps a few dollars.)

A Uber spokesman told TechCrunch that the price lock characteristic is based on historical prices of this trip and the prepaid card protects against price spikes and adds discounts that are also based on historical prices.
