Netflix and Spotify collaborated to start a golf -inspired game as a way of promoting “Happy Gilmore 2”, continuing the 1996 Adam Sandler comedy movie, which is aired on Netflix this Friday July 25th.
This partnership represents a new Spotify business, as the music platform has never worked with another company to create a game experience in its before.
Gaming is a Spotify area has been largely overlooked, so working with Giant Streaming is remarkable, even if only for an advertising campaign, as it could serve as a test to see if consumers echoed with experience. Since the game is associated with a favorite classic classic classic, it also presents a unique opportunity to enhance the commitment.
Spotify says it has developed the game in collaboration with Mik Studio.
The new mini game, titled Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament, is available exclusively in the Spotify app. To play, users need to refine the swing of their golf by clicking on their device as they aim to complete all three holes.
The game also offers a unique audiovisual experience, with sound clip from the movie when users complete each round, along with a personalized “happy” playing list specifically for the user. Players can also discover Easter eggs, such as Happy boots, signature hockey stick and alligator.
At the end of the experience, users can watch the official “Happy Gilmore 2” trailer and share the personalized playlist and the final score of the social media.
