Amazon was announced On Wednesday it’s introducing a new AI-powered Fire TV feature that lets viewers jump to specific movie scenes on Prime Video just by describing them to Alexa+.
“Our number one mission at Fire TV is to get you to what you want to watch—fast,” Amazon wrote in a blog post. “Today’s release builds on that mission with this new AI-powered feature. Simply describe a movie scene as you would to a friend, and Alexa+ will jump right to that moment — no more searching required.”
Amazon says you can describe the scene to Alexa by mentioning details like the name of the actor or character or a memorable quote.
For example, you could say “Skip to the scene in Mamma Mia where Sophie sings ‘Honey Honey'” or “Skip to the scene where Deloris Jordan says ‘a shoe is just a shoe until my son walks in.'”
Other examples include: “Jump to the scene when John McClane says ‘come to the shore, we’ll gather, we’ll laugh'” and “Jump to the card scene in Love Actually”.
Amazon says Alexa+ can identify the movie you’re talking about even if you don’t mention the title. It then uses visual understanding and movie captions to understand the characters, plot and action in scenes to pinpoint the specific moment you’re looking for.
Like Alexa+, the new feature is built on Amazon Bedrock, which is Amazon’s service that offers a selection of productive AI models from the company itself and third-party partners through an API. The feature leverages a variety of large language models, including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude.
The feature works with thousands of movie titles available on Prime Video, including tens of thousands of indexed scenes, Amazon says. The company plans to add more movies and scenes and expand the feature to TV shows soon.
It’s worth noting that the feature will only work if the movie is included in a Prime subscription, or if you’ve bought or rented it on Prime Video.
