Amazon will restart the Drone Delivery Service in Arizona on Friday, as two federal services continue to investigate a crash that happened earlier this week.
Amazon is suspending businesses in the western valley of the Phoenix Metro area – today the only commercial market – after a crash on Wednesday. Two of the company’s primary aircraft collided with the explosion of a crane near the same day in Tolleson, Arizona, which sent them to crash on the ground.
Amazon delivers packages, weighing up to five pounds, to customers through the Prime Air Drone Service at West Valley, Phoenix from November 2024.
Amazon Terrence Clark spokesman said the company would continue to support “continuing revisions by relevant organizations”. The National Transport Security Council and the Federal Air Force have announced on Thursday that investigations into crush are underway.
“Security is our top priority and we have completed our own internal review of this incident and we are sure that there was no problem with the aircraft or technology that supports them,” Clark said in an online statement. “Nevertheless, we have introduced additional procedures such as enhanced landscape visual inspections for better monitoring for moving obstacles such as cranes.”
The program has faced several failures over the years, including departure Basic executives, as the company pushes its goal of using drones to deliver 500 million packages a year by the end of the decade.
Amazon stopped testing its aircraft after a mid -air collision involving two of its models in Oregon in December 2024. At that time, Amazon said he would suspend drone traditions at the College Station, Texas and Arizona. Amazon no longer has businesses at the College Station.

Amazon also scored a victory or two, including approval by the US Federal Air Force to throw away more distances. This approval in May 2024 removed a regulatory barrier, allowing Amazon to extend the primary air service. Amazon has previously said that it was planning to expand Prime Air Delivery in Texas in Richardson, San Antonio and Waco and throughout the country with locations planned for Detroit and Kansas City.
