WhistleThe College Social App, extends to grocery stores thanks to a new collaboration with CourtStarting told TechCrunch exclusively. The partnership will allow students to order anything late at night snacks in weekly grocery stores directly in the Fizz app in as fast as 15 minutes, Fizz says.
Founded in 2021, Fizz is available in more than 620 campuses in all the United States, with over 27 million positions to date. The social platform allows students to connect anonymously to others at their university. Fizz also has a market where users can buy and sell items locally.
Co -founder and Managing Director of Fizz, Teddy Solomon, told TechCrunch in an email that the expansion of starting grocery stores came for a long time, as users had requested the feature for some time.
He says that students are already using Fizz to buy and sell through the Fizz market and coordinate the team delivery of food and beverages, so it was reasonable to make grocery stores possible through the application.
Solomon also believes that it was natural for Fizz to work with GOPUFF, as it is also a service founded by and for students and is popular on a newer customer base.
“GOPUFF was founded by students and has long had a strong presence in campuses, so synergy with Fizz was clear,” Solomon said. “We share the same gen z DNA, and as soon as the talks began, it was obvious that this collaboration would be a great application. Combining the Fizz community and the extreme distribution with GOPUFF’s ability to deliver the necessary immediately, we are facilitating students’ lives.”
While students could already order grocery stores through GOPUFF immediately, Fizz says that new integration allows for more convenience. In addition, the Fizz store has default grocery collections to facilitate shopping for the essentials. Examples of these include the gym, study fuel and rush bags.
