Anthropogenic co -founder and CEO Dario Amodei is in India this week, with plans to create an office in Bangalore and exploring a collaboration with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance industries, TechCrunch has learned. Amodei is expected to visit Mumbai to meet Ambani and other Reliance Industries executives, India’s most valuable company and the parent of the leading telecommunications body, Reliance Jio, people who are familiar with the subject told Techcrunch. Anthropic has discussed with Reliance for some time about a possible partnership to expand access to Claude AI’s assistant in India, the people said.

Several Indian newly established AI companies are already using CLAUDE models on their products for both home and American customers. India also represents the second highest share of traffic on Claude’s website after the US, according to the digital information company Similar.
In August, Reliance Industries worked with large technology companies, including existing Google and Meta investors, to build AI infrastructure and business solutions through its new unit, Reliance Intelligence. The Bombay -based group had also explored a possible collaboration with Openai, which put the Chatgpt plan under India earlier this year and announced plans to open an office in New Delhi later in 2025.
This Reliance -Penai collaboration is expected to be announced during Openai Sam Altman’s scheduled visit to India last month, but Altman finally postponed the journey.
Reliance Industries did not respond to a request for comments. TechCrunch also arrived at Openai for comments.
Along with Bombay, Amodei visits New Delhi to meet top legislators and senior federal government officials, according to sources. He is also expected to meet India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in TechCrunch two who are familiar with his travel plans.

Later in the week, Amodei will be in Bangalore to announce Anthropic’s office that opens on Thursday, according to sources in TechCrunch. The head of Emea Guillaume Princen and the leader of the newly established Daniel Delaney also accompany him. The prominent business funds, including ACCEL and Lightspeed, also host special sessions with anthropogenic executives this week to share information on how developers and newly established businesses can use Claude for their offers.
