Instagram upgrades its immediate messages, also known as DMS, with a handful of new features that make the messaging system more competitive with alternatives, such as Apple Imessage and other third -party applications. On Wednesday, Instagram users worldwide will gain access to tools to translate messages into 99 languages, tools for planning and protecting messages in their conversations, music sharing functions and much more.
Instagram notes, the new features will initially be available to both iOS and Android users, as internet access will not arrive later.
Adding music sharing could particularly attract younger users who often discover new music through social applications such as Instagram and Tiktok. To access the feature, you will click on the sticker button on the chat composer screen, and then click on “Music”. Then you will be able to look for music and share a 30 -second preview of any song in the Instagram Music Library through group talks or a broadcast channel.
In addition to sharing music between friends, the choice could help artists reach their followers through their social media. Instagram will publicly launch music sharing with Jennie and Doechii, which will test the sharing on Instagram broadcast channels.
Other new tools will make it easier for people to use Instagram DMS as their main conversation application, including a messaging option sent or taken in another language. During the launch, 99 different languages are supported.
There is also now a way to place a message, image, imitation or cylinder on top of your conversation by holding the message and pressing on “PIN”. This could be convenient for maintaining frequently required information to easy access or could just be used for fun. (You can overturn the pin by re -pressing the message and choosing “Unpin.”)
The company says you can pass up to three messages per conversation.
By taking Apple’s IMESSAG, which added messages programming with the release of iOS 18, Instagram will now let its users plan long -term messages (holding the “Shipment” button. From here, you will be able to select the date and time to send your message.
A final addition is the open to invite friends to a group conversation by sending them a QR code. From the invitation link to a conversation, you can select the new “QR Code” option to send the invitation. This can be shared live, through the built -in sharing sheet, or can be stored as a picture on your camera roll for later use.
