As expected, Apple revealed the long -awaited iPhone SE renewal on Tuesday. The fourth generation device arrives three years after the last major update on the budget smartphone. This is with a twist, however. The SE brand has fallen to maintain the device more consistent with the company’s flagship. The new iPhone 16E starts at $ 599 and will start sending February 28.

Apple Intelligence is the iPhone manufacturer’s response to offers such as Openai Chatgpt and Google Gemini. It has small models that can perform local on-device, provide text summaries, write letters and create images.

The 16E is now part of an exclusive team – along with the rest of the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 15 Pro – of mobile phones that are able to run Apple Intelligence. This is in part to the addition of an A18 processor-the same chip to the house found throughout the IPhone 16 flagship series.

Like the rest of the iPhone line with Apple Intelligence, the 16E allows users to access ChatGPT via Siri free, without Openai account.

The new headset is also the first in its own Apple modem, the Apple C1. The addition comes as the company continues to reduce its dependence on chipmakers such as Qualcomm and Intel in favor of silicon specifically manufactured for its devices.

As it shifts to a more up-to-date design, the iPhone 16e drips the Home ID Touch ID button in favor of the face ID while bringing back the iPhone X camera. the link to all its hardware devices.

The handset sports an OLED 6.1 -inch screen and “the best battery life on a 6.1 -inch iPhone” per Apple. It notes that the device provides up to 12 hours more life in a charge than the previous SES, which is due to a small piece of six A18 core.

There is a 48-megapixel single camera watching rear, with 2x zoom. The front is Apple’s Truedepth camera, which allows facial unlocks.

The new phone arrives at a central hour for Apple. The company’s market share recently declined by 11% in China, one of its most subsequent markets. Many things are playing here, including the rise of Huawei and other home phones, coupled with the fact that Apple Intelligence is not yet available in mainland China.

Apple reportedly had talks with Tencent and Bytetance in an effort to bring a local version of the AI genetic offer to China. More recently, Word has been shown that the company has worked with Alibaba as the local partner of AI.

The original iPhone SE, which started in 2016, was a powerful seller for Apple in both China and India, the number one and two smartphone purchases, respectively. In contrast to the annual launch of the iPhone, the SE liberation program was irregular, with subsequent releases in 2020, 2022 and now in 2025. While the price of $ 599 marks a $ 100 premium in the last SE, the more state -of -the -art of Art budget headset should help the company recover lost ground in these markets.

Pre-orders for the handset open Friday, February 21st. The device starts sending exactly a week later.
