After was announced On Thursday, Vibes, the short-form video stream featuring AI-generated videos, launches in Europe on the Meta AI app. Think TikTok or Instagram Reels, but every video you come across is created by AI.
The release comes six weeks after Meta introduced streaming in the U.S. Just days after Meta’s release, OpenAI released Sora, a social media platform for creating and sharing AI-generated videos.
With Vibes, you can create and share AI-generated short-form videos and access an exclusive feed featuring AI videos from others. Meta says your feed will become more personalized to your interests over time.
When creating content, you can create a video using prompts or remix someone else’s video. You can add new graphics, layer in music, or customize styles to match your own taste.
“This is an inherently social and collaborative creation experience where you’re encouraged to mix, co-create, and build stories together with friends,” Meta wrote in a blog post. “Videos and content can be shared and published directly to the Vibes feed, sent to friends, or cross-posted to Instagram and Facebook Stories and Reels.”
When Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the stream in September, user comments in response to his own post announcement it was about what you’d expect, especially since no one really wants an AI-generated version of TikTok.
One of the top comments on the post was: “Gang Nobody wants this,” while another popular comment read: “Bro posts ai slop on his own app.” Another comment was: “I think I speak for everyone when I say: What…?”

While Meta embraces AI-generated content, companies like YouTube are trying to combat the issue, as the rise of AI technology has caused social media platforms to be flooded with artificial intelligence — a term meaning low-quality AI content.
Meta’s debut on Vibes is particularly puzzling given that the company said earlier this year that it was dealing with “non-original” content and advised creators to focus on “authentic storytelling” instead of short videos that offer little value.
Despite its previous messages, Meta is touting the release of Vibes, stating that media production in the Meta AI app has increased more than tenfold since its release.
