As Tiktok continues to create the search experience, the social network now shows reviews for selected positions exactly in the video tab of a video. The new feature, which seems to be a test, eliminates the need to carry out a new search or open Google when you meet a place in Tiktok and want to know more about it.
Tiktok users who have access to this new feature will see a new “reviews” tab on the right after clicking to see video comments.
For example, if you come across a Central Park video in New York, where the creator has highlighted the site, you will be able to see users’ star ratings for their location, written reviews and their uploaded photos if any.
You can also click on a critic username to visit the Tiktok profile from this section, which differentiates this feature from A previous integration of Google Maps, set with A Google Maps icon.
Although the new feature may be a welcome addition to some, others may believe that they are affecting the user’s experience when viewing content.
Movement is the last way Tiktok is trying to expand her quest for her search to take over Google.
In 2022, a Google executive suggested that Tiktok ate in basic services, search and maps, especially for younger users. Fast forward to the present day, and Tiktok has questioned Google’s dominance in several areas.
In addition to making a top stop for place searches between Gen Z, Tiktok added images search capabilities last year that allows users to take or upload a photo to find similar products at the Tiktok store.
In September 2024, Tiktok also began to allow advertisers to target the search results page through the “Tiktok Advertising Camp”, a keyword-based search solution designed to display brand ads in search results.
It is not clear whether Tiktok plans to develop its reviews more widely, as the company refused to provide comments before the publication. However, in TechCrunch, we found that only a few videos with a label site will present the feature.
