Uber and the Chinese autonomous Weride vehicle technology company are planning to expand a Robotaxi commercial partnership and bring the service to another 15 cities in the next five years. The expansion comes five months after the start of the two companies a robot trading service in Abu Dhabi.
As part of this expansion, Uber will increase its investment in Weride by $ 100 million, according to Wednesday’s registered deposition. Weride said he expects the cash to come until the second half of 2025.
Companies said the extension will include cities in Europe. As part of the corporate relationship, Weride Robotaxi services are available through the Uber application. The relationship is similar to Uber’s agreement with Waymo, in which the route manages network launching and fleet operations, while the autonomous vehicle company remains responsible for AV Tech.
Uber and Weride, who were published in Nasdaq in late October, operate together in Abu Dhabi and announced plans to add Dubai. In Abu Dhabi, they work with local Tawasul transport to handle fleet businesses.
The extra 15 cities will focus on cities outside China and the United States.
Uber has locked more than 15 partnerships with a wide range of autonomous vehicle technology companies over the last two years throughout driving, tradition and truck. In the last two months, Uber has announced the agreements with May May Mobility Volkswagen of Ann Arbor, Mathigan, and the Chinese Momenta leading self.
It is the most profile partnership in the US-and the one that works today-is with Waymo. Companies offer a Waymo for Uber Service at Austin and are going to do the same in Atlanta.
This story was first published on May 5th. It has been renewed with Uber’s capital commitment to Weride.
