Wasp Platform Is The Glue That Holds The Web Dev

When Matija Šošić began working on website development, it is surprised at how difficult it was to build a full Web application for production.

One of the biggest obstacles faced by Šošić was the navigation in the fragmented Dev tool landscape. Codification of a web application is required using different tools for the development of the front end against the rear extremity and so on.

“The whole ecosystem is very articulated and granularly,” Šošić told Techcrunch. “There are many of these separate subsystems, which you need to understand how to paste together, and then make sure they are both, you know, scale and safe with everything you create.”

In 2020, Šošić decided to combine with his twin brother, Martin šošić – who faced similar issues in his career for the developer – to start WaspA platform intended to connect these fragmented tools in 2021.

WASP is a complete Web App Dev application tool that acts as an adhesive between the various platform developers they already use, including React, Node.js and Prisma, among others. WASP helps to draw the code from these different platforms in a web application.

WASP also stains and marks the gaps that are common when a developer deals with different coding sources. WASP will update a developer if an API key is missing, for example, or suggests possible code changes to prevent future issues.

The latter part is particularly important in today’s market, as many new AI encoding tools, such as Windsurf (formerly codeium) and runner, have made an affordable coding of non -technicians. While this is largely good, šošić said: “Vibe is not working for the business”, and WASP can help developers build more full stack applications.

The WASP platform is an open source and can be developed in a public cloud or an enterprise server.

Šošić said the founding team decided to build WASP as a mattress over the existing tools, as opposed to a completely new solution out of the box to eliminate developers who need to learn a new programming language or process to use WASP.

The Wasp has passed since the winter of the 2021 combinator and started its product on Beta in 2023. Since then, the company has garnered 26,000 GitHub stars and is now working with numerous newly established Fortune 500 companies and customers.

The company set a previously indefinite round of $ 3.7 million, led by HV Capital with participation from the fifth quarter, big bets and Metis Ventures, including VC, at the end of 2024.

WASP has set a $ 1.5 million seed round in 2021. To date, the company has increased a total of $ 5.2 million.

“This gives us a very steady quantity, basically, the freedom to work,” said Šošić. “We are very excited to perform at the next level of the product, to bring it [version] 1.0 and further solidify the entire mounting in the AI spectrum. ”

Šošić said the company is now focusing on the transfer of the product in version 1.0, which will include features such as support for different languages and server performance.

“For us, you know, it still focuses on the basic product itself, which is the frame of the open source WASP,” said šošić. “With all the comments we’ve got from the last four years of building. I think now it’s clear to us what to build and what we need to support to get to reach [version] 1.0. ”
