Former North Carolina Congress Patrick Mchenry announced Wednesday that he landed in a job with VC Andreessen Horowitz. Will be a senior consultant.
His position on X said little about what the job involves, in addition to supporting the newly established businesses (which the A16Z likes to call “Little Tech”) with policymakers. Andreessen Horowitz did not respond immediately to a request for comments.
Mchenry spent 20 years in Congress before retiring in January. As chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, he was perhaps the best known for the dress under the president of the sec Gary Gensler.
Gensler had become particularly boogeyman in the cryptographic world, submitting lawsuits against cryptographic exchanges such as Coinbase and threatening to sue others such as Robinhood. The current sec is busy with the fall of these costumes and research.
“Under President Gensler, the Securities and Exchange Commission has become a Rogue company,” Mchenry said During listening in Septemberaccusing the president of the sec of the “regulation by enforcement”.
Meanwhile, the A16Z, which has raised $ 7.6 billion in chapters dedicated to Crypto/Web3 technology from 2022, has been incorporated into all things and the government recently. Earlier this month, Brian Quintenz, who is leading the A16Z encryption team, said he was appointed to run the Futures Futures (CFTC) Committee.
In addition, Sriram Krishnan, a former A16Z associate, is also now a White House policy adviser. Scott Kupor, one of the business managers, was hit to drive The Personnel Management Office; and Jamie Sullivan, another investor in the business, is said he advised Doge.
Andreessen Horowitz’s emerging US dynamism practice, which supports newly formed businesses in defense and government technology, also makes a lot of recruitment, recently adding former Marine Daniel Penny as an investor.
