After adding her own billing choice to iOS, Apple asks Patreon to move it to an external browser

Creator platform Father It must modify its application to comply with Apple’s instructions after a recent update that allowed US users to make purchases through the tissue.

The company says its own electronic control option is now the default for US fans, but it must update its implementation so that this checkout option will open to an external browser instead of Apple’s directive.

This creates more steps for fans who want to pay immediately using Patreon, but still allows the company to resign from Apple to pay Apple a 30% supply for in -app purchases.

Patreon first informed its implementation shortly after a court ruling in the Apple-Epic legal battle that forced Apple to support external payments in applications published in the US Application Store without charging supplies. Last week, the Patreon iOS application (version 125.5.0) added a option that allows users to pay through the web using a variety of payment methods, including credit cards, Venmo, Paypal and even Apple Pay.

These options appeared in an in -app browser, providing a more seamless checkout experience for Patreon users. Now, Patreon’s flow opens in an external browser – a change made by Patreon based on Apple comments.

In addition, the company says that creators in older billing models will also be able to accept payments through the Patreon iOS application.

Previously, Apple did not support billing models outside the subscription pricing and required the exclusive use of its own in -application market system. This limited the options for creators to inheritance billing models, such as pricing the first message and creation, says Patreon.

By updating, creators will be able to use these billing options on iOS, which could have a significant impact on their lower line.

Within the week, Patreon says US fans will be able to buy entries from these creators at the price they set for their levels in the iOS application. (However, creators will still have to offer subscription charge to sell new entries outside the US)

Currently, about 95% of active creators are already using subscription charge, the company notes, as it allows them to use other tools such as free tests, discounts, gifting, tier repricing, automatic pilot and much more. But now it can meet the needs of the remaining 5%.

Because of this new flexibility, Patreon’s deadline for changing the creators to subscription charge is no longer valid, he says. Last August, Patreon said Apple had given a deadline to change all the creators in the iOS iOS market until November 2025 or to remove the risk from the App Store.

“We have stayed in close conversation with Apple and continued to support a more flexible approach – which gives creators more time and choice,” Patreon told a blog. “As a result of the recent decision and changes at the end of Apple, the November 2025 deadline is no longer valid and no new deadline has been set today.
