A boot called Palabra aiwhich develops a AI speech translation mechanism, faces one of the most difficult aspects of teaching large linguistic models (LLMS) to understand multiple languages.

Today, LLMS facilitates the conversion of the text from one language to another, but the speech translation is not so simple, according to co -founder Reddit Alexis Ohanian.

“AI can create content and translate text. But [Speech] Translation is a unique problem because it requires real -time language change and the voice must also sound human, “Ohanian said.

Ohanian and his business Seven seven six (776) believe it Palabra ai Could be an answer to this problem. That is why the business is driving a round of pre-serving $ 8.4 million to start. The round also saw Creator Ventures’ participation along with individual investors, such as the co -founder of the Instacart Max Mullen, a former A16Z Anne Lee Skates partner, former head of the Deepmind product at Mehdi Ghissassi and Namat Bahram.

Ohanian of Seven Seven Seven also noted that Palabra’s combination for the product execution and the team’s know -how prompted the business to invest.

“With Palabra, the translation layer works very smoothly. The company has a strong AI research team that does high quality work around the speech.

Palabra was founded by Artem Kukharenko and Alexander Kabakov in 2023. Kukharenko, a former mechanical learning engineer in Samsung, said he has lived in various countries as a digital legume and has had problems with languages. That is why he wanted to combine the learning experience to solve for real -time translation.

“Many other companies have tried to solve the problem of translation, but when they combine different pieces of technology, including API of speech and text to speech during translation, the delay number increased and the translation did not feel in real time.

Kukharenko added that the company has created a customized data pipe to make it easier to add support for a new language within a few weeks. He said that at the end of this pipeline, Palabra places a human interpreter who controls the quality of production. The start stated that its algorithm also represents different scenarios such as noisy environments and holidays.

Palabra AI has both consumer and translation products. The company offers a desktop application – both for Mac and Windows – that works with popular phone applications, including Google Meet, Zoom, Discord, Slack and Microsoft teams. The application can support translation in more than 30 languages, which means you can hear someone talking in their mother tongue in your language selection. This could be convenient for calls for participants in various nationalities.

On its website, Palabra says that the Desktop application will soon support the automatic translation features for content sites such as YouTube, Netflix, Twitch and Vimeo.

You take 30 minutes without translation each month. For a higher limit, you can pay for designs starting from $ 25 a month for 60 minutes of translation in applications.

The start provides API and SDK to businesses to integrate translation into their products.

Currently, its technology supplies video platforms such as Agora for live multilingual flows. In addition, language service providers such as GIS Group use Palabra tools along with human interpreters. The company said that multi -event organizers also use its technology to provide multilingual currents.

Palabra has fierce competition in the translation market. At the end of the consumer, newly established companies such as Y-Backed Ezdubs supported by Y are applications working for personal or call conversations. Earlier this year, Google also started real -time translation for meet video calls. At the business end of things, newly formed companies such as Camb.Ai based on Dubai make translation technology to transmit live events in many languages.

To stand out, Palabra is currently working on a new flow prediction model, which could lead to a drastic decline in latent situation. It also works to support translation for over 10,000 simultaneous sound flows.
