Stelantis, the international car industry owned by Chrysler, Jeep and RAM, said it would invest $ 13 billion to boost US construction over the next four years as part of a broader revival plan run by its new chief executive.
Five new vehicles will be developed and produced by 2029 as part of the investment in factories in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. The investment will also support the production of a new four -cylinder engine and reopen the Belvidere assembly plant in Illinois, which will allow the automotive industry to expand the production of Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass for the US market. In total, more than 5,000 jobs will be created.
In contrast to previous investment commitments of many billions of dollars, however, this does not focus on electric drive.
One of the five new vehicles will be an EV-EXTENDED EV-one vehicle that combines a battery with a gas generator for additional range-produced at the Warren truck assembly plant in Michigan starting in 2028.
The rest of the products include a next -generation Dorango Durango to be produced in the Detroit assembly complex in 2029, a new medium -sized truck that will be assembled in the TOLEDO Assembly complex in Ohio and a brand new four -cylinder engine called GMET4 Kokomo, Indiana, the factory.
Stellantis’s chief executive and North America Coo Antonio Filosa said the investment will lead to the growth of the automotive industry, boost its production footprint and “bring more US jobs to the states we call home”.
“The acceleration of growth in the US has been a top priority since my first day. Success in America is not just good for Stelantis in the US – makes us stronger everywhere,” Filosa said in a statement.

Stelantis has reduced its electrification plans for the US market in the past year. The car industry said in September that it would no longer include an electric gladiator in Jeep, as it reviews the product’s strategy. Earlier that month, the automotive industry said it canceled plans to produce a full -size electric battery. However, Stellantis said he is still planning to produce a RAM of 1500 Rev, called former Ramcharger.
