Google was announced on Tuesday launching new agent capabilities in AI mode, the feature that lets users ask complex questions and follow up to drill down on a topic directly in Search.
Users can now get help booking event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments in AI mode.
For example, you might say, “Find me two cheap tickets to Shaboozey’s upcoming concert. Prefer standing room tickets.” The AI function will then search multiple sites to find real-time ticket options that meet your specific requests. It will then present you with a curated list of ticket prices to choose from. The AI feature connects you directly to the booking page so you can complete your purchase.
The new agent features are available to all users participating in Google’s experimental arm of Search Labs in the US. The company notes that Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers have access to high limits.
Google first brought agent capabilities to its AI feature in August, when it began allowing users to use the feature to find restaurant reservations.
With this feature, you can request dinner reservations based on multiple preferences such as party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. For example, you could ask, “Find me a dinner reservation for three this Friday after 6pm around Logan Square. I’m craving ramen or bibimbap.”
The AI function will then search different booking platforms to find real-time availability for restaurants that match the search. A curated list of options is then displayed for you to choose from.
“Our priority at Google Search is to connect you with high-quality information you can rely on,” Google explained on its Search Labs page. “This new functionality is rooted in our core quality and safety systems, but is still an early experiment and prone to errors.”
Google first launched AI Mode in March to take on popular services like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. Since then, the tech giant has brought AI functionality to more than 180 countries and builds it with new features. For example, AI Mode recently gained access to a Canvas feature that helps you create study plans and organize information across multiple sessions in a sidebar. It also now lets you use Google Lens to ask what’s on your computer screen.
