The new feature, “Inspire Me”, allows users to receive book recommendations using prompts or from their previously stored titles in Libby.

To use the feature, readers tap the “Inspire Me” options on the Libby homepage, where they can request fiction or not -then, then limit the sentences from other factors, such as age range, content type and much more. The app will then display five relevant titles that match the inspiration requested.

Overdrive, the company that makes the Libby app says the feature is based on the digital collection of each library, so it will show books offered by the Library. It also gives priority to the titles that are readily available to borrow.

While a fairly basic case of use for AI, some Libby users and librarians are pushing back to addition through posts social media Locations, saying that they would prefer to receive book recommendations without the use of AI technology. Others are worried about potential privacy issues that come with some AI experiences.

Overdrive, however Policy document on the use of AI by Libby That avoids the collection of “Instinal Personal Information” and when using your personal information, it does not share with third parties or artificial intelligence models. The company also says that user data and activity are not shared with AI model.

Perhaps awaiting a boost against the new addition, Overdrive stressed in her announcement that her goal was not to replace “human insight” with a genetic characteristic AI. On the contrary, he says the feature could be used to “complete” the discovery of librarians.

“Inspire Me uses AI’s responsible integration to help patrons dip deeper into the incredible lists curated by their local libraries,” said Jen Leitman, head of Overdrive’s marketing in a statement. “With the surface of the titles that are aligned with what readers are looking for, it inspires me to help the patrons to discover more of the books already invested by their libraries. It is not about replacing human insight, it is the easiest, discovery easier, more intelligent.”

The company rejected the possibility previously This month, allowing users to look for “#inspireme” in the Libby application to access. Now officially announced And by unraveling, all Libby users should expect access to the feature in September.
