Subaru returns with a new EV, and like its predecessor Solterra, Electric Trailseeker SUV includes a piece of Toyota Handiwork.
America’s Subaru revealed the 2026 Trailseeker SUV on Wednesday in the New York International Car. The EV, the second in the Japanese automaker’s portfolio, looks familiar to a type of hey-like-like-a-subaru type. It is reminiscent of the rising Subaru gas -powered, but is of course smaller. Others may see a little out on the trailseeeker.
It is larger than the soluble, the electric subconscious crossover born of a common project with Toyota and who entered the US market in 2022.
Either way, Trailseeker aims to give customers another EV option – and the one that lands directly to the external arena for lifestyle – from Subaru Solterra. This could put the Trailseeeker against the upcoming Rivian R2, which is expected to go to production in 2026. The trailseeker will be assembled in Japan.
Trailseeeker and 2026 solvent share a mechanical DNA, including a new propulsion system. Subaru did not provide many details about the propulsion system or the new Trailseeeker’s new underlying platform. This information, along with pricing, should be shared before the sale of Trailseeker to Nationals in 2026.
Trailseeker features various design features and systems that are synonymous with Subaru, including a drive system of all wheels supported by two electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles. These double engines provide 375 hp and allow the trailseeker to tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Subaru says this new EV is designed to go anywhere and the company’s engineers were responsible for coordinating the suspension system and all wheels. Designers gave Trailseeker a larger cargo area and taller roof for owners to cover all these adventure tools. Trailseeeker is about six inches more and almost one inch taller than sorting. However, the claim “go anywhere” has its limits. Trailseeeker has 8.3 inches from soil cleansing, which is lower than the gas supplied with Subaru Forester and Subaru Outback.
This is ultimately an EV, which means that the trailseeker engine includes a 74.7 kWh lithium -ion battery that provides over 260 miles of wide, according to the company. A look at the EV charging port shows that this vehicle has a port of northern American charging, which makes it compatible with the Tesla turbocharger network.
The Subaru fell with the exterior of the Trailseeker to ensure it looks different from the other EV, including redesigned views, front bumper and 20 and 18 -inch wheels. The automaker also pumped the interior with metal finishes along the dash, a center console to hold personal devices and a 14 -inch touchscreen, the largest for any Subaru model (ie the new 2026 Solterra).

The touchscreen is part of the Trailseeker’s entertainment system, which includes Apple Carplay and Android Auto wireless compatibility. Other functions that focus on the devices include two wireless 15W smartphone chargers and two fast USB-C chargers for rear seat passengers.
Finally, Trailseeeker comes equipped with an advanced driver help system that will warn drivers in blind spots if they depart from the lane and braking that will be involved before a collision. Other Adas features include adaptive cruise control, which maintains a selected driver speed and automatically slows down to maintain a selected distance.
