SoupA start -up that uses AI to automate data collection and analysis for legal teams has raised $ 60 million in a funding round led by Sapphire Ventures with the participation of Mayfield and Thomson Reuters Ventures.
The new chapter, which brings the whole SUPIO rising to $ 91 million, will be launched for the growth, recruitment and efforts of the market, co -founder and CEO Jerry Zhou in TechCrunch. Supio plans to expand its central Seattle and open a new office as it doubles about 100 people.
Supio is one of the many newly established businesses for customers and Mindshare in AI’s legal technology. While there is skepticism On how well it can perform some legal duties, law firms are under competitive pressure to hug it – they may be in danger of falling back. According to an investigationAI’s adoption in the legal profession almost tripled from 11% in 2023 to 30% in 2024.
The idea for Supio came after Zhou and Kyle Lam, Zhou’s childhood friend and a partner of the Avalara Compliance Compliance Compliance, left Avalara to build their own business. Zhou says they saw the opportunity to “transform the way people work with documents”.
“Every day, lawyers and palegals spend thousands of hours with the manual medical records, police reports and expert opinions,” Zhou said. “The main product of SUPIO serves these users by giving them a deep understanding of their complex, non -structured data.”
Supio, which focuses on the law on physical injuries, offers a platform that applies to AI associated with existing law firms to help manage cases. Zhou argues that Supio is concerned with “human verification” to combat the error introduced by AI and to ensure reasonable accuracy.
‘We focus deeply on specialized [AI] Model and quality control in the document and data level, “Zhou said.” The legal AI supports over 114 types of cases and this number is increased in collaboration with our customers. “

Supio had a fairly successful year, according to Zhou. The annual repetitive revenue has increased 4x, as well as the size of the SUPIO customer base. Company customers now include Hughes & Coleman, Daniel Stark, Law Offices Thomas, Whitley Law and other lawyer injuries and massive delinquency.
To support this (and future) expansion, SUPIO recently appointed sales leaders, customer success and marketing and advertising.
“AI created an important turning point for the legal industry as a whole,” Zhou said. “Every business in every sub -olytic of the law thinks how to discover themselves for the AI era. If Excel transformed funding 30 years ago, AI will do the same for legal knowledge workers.”
