After recently detected the test of a way by sharing larger text, the threads, the meta competitor, is now officially launch The function that allows users to attach up to 10,000 text characters in place. The addition is designed with the needs of the creators, as it supports the connection to content outside the yarns, such as newsletters, blogs, podcasts and much more.

Prior to this update, the threads support 500 characters – which is already much more than the 280 characters offered to non -verified users of X. However, X in 2023 introduced a way for subscribers paid to publish up to 25,000 characters, hoping to encourage the creators to publish their contents.

Meta, meanwhile, doesn’t go so far. Instead, the company says that 10,000 characters give people more room to express themselves, but also allows them to promote their work and lead others to “live”, even if not in yarn.

Prior to launch, Meta noted that people use screenshots to share more content from books, articles, newsletters, podcast transcripts and much more, which inspired the addition and design of the feature.

The company saw that its users often wanted to show people in the original work or place to buy their job after they started a discussion on the subject. For example, authors may want to share text from an upcoming book to lead the pre -writers, while journalists may want to promote one of their longest features.

In x, users have long worked around the character limitations with the threaded and numbering of a series of connected suspensions to share larger thoughts or by uploading screenshots from an app such as Apple’s notes. Seeing this trend, X tried to take advantage of the demand for a larger number of characters, making it its characteristic.

Yarns, however, make the additional characters available for free.

The company confirmed to TechCrunch that it has no plans to make revenue from posts with attached text at the moment. In addition, Meta noted that the text in the positions can be formulated by labeling, bold or underlined text, strikethroughs and sideways. You can even add emojis.

The company says it is investigating additional improvements based on community feedback.

Specifically, Meta says whether the creators are connected to content outside the yarn, this link will appear “obviously” to the audience to click. This is also a shot in X, which has changed the user interface to downplay the visibility of the links and often blocks external services in the fixture of the owner Elon Musk.

But there are some disadvantages in using the larger yarn text.

Contents in the text attachments will not be adjusted by search engines like Google and will not be federal. The latter refers to the way the issues support the publication of its positions on the wider open social fabric, including decentralized services such as Mastodon. This support allows yarn users to search and follow users from other servers other than the yarn, to see who follows you and who I liked your post from these servers, as well as the positions and posts on issues published by users on other servers.

Meta says she is exploring how to federally attached text for future repetitions.
