The WhatsApp chat platform said today that it would limit the number of broadcasting messages individual users and businesses can send to limit the spam to the application.
In the coming weeks, the company will start testing limits on individual broadcasting messages. Under these limits, Whatsapp will set a monthly limit on the number of emissions. While there will be limits of travel during the test, an example that meta gave was to allow 30 messages per month.
Meta said that if individual users want to send more messages to a large number of people, they could use updates or status channels.
The company is also thinking of placing similar protective messages around business broadcasting messages. So far, whatsapp business accounts could send free and unlimited broadcast messages, but the company will soon import a paid version of the operation with some additional tools.
In the coming months, META will try new custom broadcast messages for product updates or holiday sales. In addition, business account users will also be able to plan messages. During the pilot period, traders will receive 250 customized messages for free, and then have to pay for additional messages. Currently, the company has not set a price on these messages.
The company’s thought behind this is that users can still receive occasional broadcast messages without feeling overwhelmed. WhatsApp has taken a few steps to reduce unwanted messages to the incoming user, such as limiting the number of marketing messages that users get in one day. Last year, the company began experimenting with a “Unsubscribe” feature that allows users to signal that they prefer not to receive certain types of messages from a business without blocking the account.
In recent years, Whatsapp business has become an important advantage for post -EPOs, as the company executives said Quarterly profit calls. The company’s ethos is to give the traders for free the WhatsApp Business app with some features such as a destination page, a business profile with details and the ability to create a directory. The company then charges for various types of messages – including marketing, utility, service and identity – when traders use the solution powered by its API.
In addition to the API charges for various types of conversations, Meta was only charged for the optional transfer subscription. The new messaging feature will be one of the first paid features for traders who do not use API. There will also be another source of Meta revenue.
Along with these changes to how the broadcast messages work, the company also modifies the WhatsApp Business application logo.
