Snap has revealed an AI model in a picture of mobile devices that will supply some of the features of Snapchat in the coming months. The company said on Tuesday that the model can produce high -resolution images in about 1.4 seconds on an iPhone 16 Pro max.
The new diffusion model works entirely on the device, which reduces computing costs compared to large models based on large servers. Snap notes that the model can create “amazing” visual results with “rich representations from large -scale diffusion models to this smaller and more effective model”.
Snap plans to bring technology to production in the coming months to help the power of the app, the AI Bitmoji backgrounds and much more.
The company says that by applying this internal technology, it will be able to provide high quality high quality tools at a lower operating cost.
“Snap has a long history of excellence of research in optimization and the effectiveness of the model,” the company said in a blog position. “We are inspired by the innovation of the industry that makes AI tools more effective, accessible and affordable and look forward to continuing the contribution to the rapid pace of innovation, especially for mobile experiences.”
The company did not share further details on the model, but noted that it was the continuation of its long -term investment in AI and ML technologies.
While Snap has used AI tools from companies such as Openai and Google in the past to dominate some of its features, it has made its own debut in its own model AI that will allow it to offer unique features to its users. It makes sense for the company to invest in AI and develop its own model, especially because almost every technology company, including META, has done so in recent years.
Snap is scheduled to release the Q4 2024 profit report on Tuesday.
