A group of enforcement services of the International Law seized the Dark Web leak position of the Ransomware 8base gang as part of a ceasefire.

“This hidden space and criminal content have been confiscated by the Bavarian State Police Director on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office in Bamberg,” he reads a message on the gang’s Dark Web site leak site, which has been seen by TechCrunch.

According to the message of seizure, law enforcement services by Europe, Japan, the US and the United Kingdom participated in the abolition operation.

Lucy Sneddon, a spokesman for the UK National Crimes Service (NCA), confirmed the legality of the Takedown message in an email to TechCrunch. The United Kingdom has played a “supportive role” in the operation, the organization said.

Representatives from the other law enforcement services involved in the cease did not immediately answer TechCrunch questions.

Safety researchers First observed the seizure notice on Monday.

The Ransomware gang is a hacking team that is first observed in 2022. The team, which security experts have been connected to the ransomhouse blackmail group, is known for using dual exhaust tactics, where criminals encrypt and then threaten to expose Sensitive information if the victim does not pay for ransom.

In 2023, the US government warned that The 8base gang focused on its “inquisitive targeting” in many areas mainly in the United States, including health care. Gang also took responsibility for a cyberettack The UN Development Program last year.

In a message on its dark leak website before this week’s cease, 8base is described as “honest and simple penters”. Like the Ransomware Clop productive gang, 8base claimed that it only targets organizations that “have neglected the privacy and importance of the data of employees and their customers”.

Various Ransomware strains are known to be used in 8Base attacks, including Phobos. The US government last year secured the issuance of a supposed Russian hacker, who allegedly served as a key manager of the Ransomware Phobos productive function.
