Twitch announced on Wednesday that it will start Tape restriction in 100 hours of significant points and transporters and will delete content if a channel exceeds the limit. The company said it was importing the change because the most important points were not effective in discovering or committing driving and because storage is expensive. The storage lid comes into force on April 19.
The change applies to the main points, which are excerpts that are processed by the previous channel emissions, as well as other downloaded content.
Clips and previous Vods will not be affected by change. (Previous emissions have already been automatically deleted after a certain period of time.)
The Twitch’s announcement comes the same week that Facebook said that live videos would now be stored only on its platform for 30 days, after which they would be deleted. The company also removes the previous broadcasts in the coming months.
Twitch said that the highlights initially started to help streamers create rollers of their best moments, but that other features such as clips, labels and mobile discovery flow are more effective in discovering or committing driving.
“Despite the low efficiency, some users have gathered thousands of hours of marking and transporting (often used to create mains) over time,” the company said in a blog.
