Hyundai Motor Company and Avride have agreed to jointly develop autonomous vehicles in a connection that will deepen the relationship between the two companies.

The deal will focus on autonomous vehicle technology designed for robbery. The two companies will also consider other cases of use for technology, including autonomous delivery services using Avride’s sidewalks delivery robots.

Underneath the partnership, Avride will expand the fleet of Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles, which will be assembled at the new Metaplant America plant in Hyundai Motamany in Georgia and then integrated with stand -alone starting technology. These new vehicles will be released later this year in Dallas as part of Avride’s Robotaxi service, which will only access the Uber app.

The deal is one of the various partnerships that Avride, the Austin -based vehicle, which surpassed Yandex, landed last year. It is also the last example of Hyundai that branches beyond its own internal efforts to develop technology. AV PowerHouse Waymo hit a deal with Hyundai in October 2024 to bring Ioniq 5 EV to the robot network.

Hyundai is the primary supporter of Motional, an autonomous vehicle starting in 2019 via a $ 4 billion consortium with APTIV supplier. Motional still exists and trusts tell TechCrunch that the company is still working for so -called level 4 autonomy, in which the system handles all the navigation of vehicles without the expectation that people should take on.

However, Motional had its challenges, including AptiV’s decision last year to no longer allocate capital to the effort. Hyundai was reinforced and agreed to invest another billion dollars in cinema, which included $ 448 million to buy 11% of Appiv’s joint shareholding interest.

This chapter came with consequences. The movement was fired hundreds of workers in the context of the large restructuring. Karl Iagnemma’s chief executive resigned in September.

Avride said its collaboration with Hyundai is not a replacement for Motional. One spokesman said it was similar to Hyundai’s deal with Waymo.

“Our team has been working with Hyundai Motor Group from 2019 and we appreciate the
Professionalism and collaboration that have defined this partnership, “said Dmitry Polishchuk, CEO
of Avride. “This new deal with Hyundai Motor Company will help us escalate our activities
Important, with plans to extend our fleet to up to 100 autonomous Ioniq 5’s in 2025, utilizing
Hyundai Motor Ioniq 5 and autonomous driving technology. ”

Chang Song, President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP)
Division, added: “Hyundai Motor Company actively promotes the autonomous foundry of the vehicle
Businesses in the pursuit
Extension of our cooperation with leading autonomous driving technology companies such as Avride, reinforcing
An environment where their innovations can be actively involved in our attempt to shape the future
mobility. ”
