It looks like a pebble, it acts like a pebble, but don’t call it pebbles. Eric Migicovsky, the original creator of Pebble Smartwatch, simply unveiling Two new smartwatches – Duo Core 2 and Basic Time 2. These spiritual successors of smartwatches pebble are available For pre-orders for $ 149 and $ 225 respectively.

If you are not familiar with Pebble, this Palo Alto -based boot was one of the first hits of the Kickstarter Crowdfunding platform back in 2012. The company created smartwatches before Apple Watch and Android Smartwatches.

While Pebble managed to sell over two million devices, the company was shut down in 2016. After an insolvency process, what was left by the company was acquired by its Fitbit opponent.

Fast forward in 2024, Migicovsky had a bold idea. What if we could go back to these simplest and simpler technological devices? What if we could bring back the smartwatches pebble?

Google was amazingly useful in this process, as the technological giant is the Pebbleos Open Face, the operating system that supplied the original smartwatches pebble.

It turns out that Google acquired Fitbit a few years after Fitbit’s Pebble asset. But Pebble’s IP wasn’t worth much for Google, so the company decided to return it to the Pebble enthusiastic community.

Now, the main devices, Migicovsky’s new company, reveals two new smartwatches that will run Pebbleos. Duo Core 2 is essentially a new Pebble 2 running the original pebble software.

It has a ink screen always with a few buttons on the side of the device. Compared to 2025 smartwatches, it is a fairly basic watch. This e ink display is a non-alert, black and white screen. But Smartwatch supports alarms and timers – pioneering, I know.

It combines with your phone using Bluetooth so that it can display alerts and connect to the internet. You can also check the music on your phone thanks to this Bluetooth connection.

But the two things that made the pebbles stand out from its successors are still true today. First, the battery life is excellent. The company promises up to 30 days of battery life. Second, it’s a fun, hackable device. There are Thousands And it’s easy to create small applications for the device.

“This project is a work of love and not a starting start that is trying to sell millions of watches. There may be some raw edges (literally). I wrote.

“The only thing we can guarantee is that it will be awesome and very fun! Each time you look down on your watch, you will smile 🙂,” he added.

The other smartwatch announced today, the Core Time 2, essentially shares the same specifications as the Duo Core 2, but with a larger, 64 colored metal display. It is also a touch screen, but Pebble applications do not support touch interactions for now.

Migicovsky says the Duo Core 2 missions should start in July. Basic time 2 will last a little longer to produce, as it should only be available in December.
