NVIDIA works with Disney Research and Google Deepmind to develop Newton, a physics engine for the simulation of Robotic Movements in real arrangements, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced on GTC 2025 on Tuesday.

Disney will be among the first to use Newton to supply the next generation entertainment robots, such as the BDX Droids inspired by Star Wars-one of which ran on stage next to Huang during the third keynote.

Nvidia plans to release an early Newton open source version later in 2025.

For years, Disney has set the idea of bringing these Star Wars -inspired robots in its parks around the world. There were several controlled demos of DROIDSMore recently at SXSW 2025. Now – thanks to Newton, probably – Disney feels that technology is ready and planning to present the robots at Several places of theme parks from next year.

To one press releaseDisney Imagineering SVP Kyle Laughlin has said that collaboration with Nvidia and Google Deepmind will play a key role in the supply of Disney’s future entertainment robots.

Newton is supposed to help robots to be more “expressive” and “learn how to handle complex tasks more precisely,” Nvidia said. The physics engine is designed to help developers simulate how robots interact with the natural world, which can sometimes be a challenge for robotics developers.

Nvidia claims that Newton is extremely customizable. For example, developers can use it to plan robotic interactions with food, fabrics, sand and other deformable objects.

Newton will be compatible with the Google Deepmind ecosystem of robotic development tools, including its physics engine, Mujoco, which simulates multiple conditions robot movements, Nvidia added.

Newton was one of the many announcements that Nvidia made this week to launch the GTC 2025. The company also presented a AI foundation model for humanoid robots, groot N1, which the company says the robots perceive better and reason for their environment. In addition, the company shared a timetable for next -generation AI chips, including Blackwell Ultra and Rubin, and revealed a new series of “AI personal computers”.
