Openai’s co -founder and former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, AI’s new start -up, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), uses Google Cloud’s TPU chips to supply AI survey, part of a new corporate relationship that companies announced on Wednesday press release.

Google Cloud says SSI uses TPUS to “accelerate research and growth efforts to build a safe, state -of -the -art AI”.

The clouds chase a handful of single -level AIs who spend hundreds of millions of dollars on computing force each year to train AI foundations. SSI’s agreement with Google Cloud suggests that the first will spend a large part of its computer budget with Google Cloud. A familiar source tells TechCrunch that Google Cloud is the main computer provider of SSI.

The Google Cloud has a history of impressive computing deals with former AI researchers, many of whom are now running the newly established AI dollars. (Sutskever once worked on Google.) In October, Google Cloud said he would be the main computer provider for World Labs, founded by Ex-Google Cloud Ai Fei-Fei Li.

It is not clear whether SSI has completed partnerships with other cloud or computing providers. A Google Cloud spokesman refused to comment. A spokesman for Safe Superintelligence did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

SSI came out of Stealth in June 2024, months after Sutskever’s departure from his role as a lead scientist at Openai. The company has $ 1 billion in support from Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, DST Global, SV Angel and others.

Since the onset of SSI, we have heard relatively little about starting activities. In this websiteThe SSI says that the development of safe, over -linked AI systems is “our mission, our name and the entire map of our product because it is our only focus”. Sutskever previously said That he had identified “a new mountain to climb” and is exploring new ways to improve the performance of AI Frontier models.

Prior to establishing Openai, Sutskever spent several years on Google Brain by researching neural networks. After Openai’s Sutskever, Sutskever played a key role in the disappearance of Openai Sam Altman’s CEO in November 2023. Sutskever later joined a workers’ movement to restore Altman as Managing Director.

After the test, Sutskever reportedly did not see the Openai offices for months and eventually left the start to start the SSI.
