Poseidon It is one of the latest small -format video applications in the block that seek to compete with major players such as Tiktok, Instagram Rel and YouTube shorts.

The application, currently at Beta, has attracted the attention of hundreds of thousands of users, with 970 testers participating and 400,000 people on the waiting list, according to the company.

Neptune announced on Monday that he is preparing to start the app on the App Store next week, with plans to release on the Google Play Store in about six months.

The start was founded by Ashley Darling, who has a background as a talent manager at Optyx Agency, where he worked with “undervalued” influences. He began to develop a platform that emphasizes creativity instead of the number of fans a creator has.

“I have spent years in collaboration with independent creators, both as an influence and later helping the brands,” Darling said with TechCrunch. “I kept listening to the same thing from creators and users,“ I miss when social media were fun. When it comes to creativity, not competition. “So, instead of waiting for a platform to hear, I built one.”

With the future of Tiktok still uncertain, Neptune hopes to attract creators looking for an alternative way to earn revenue, while promoting an environment that prioritizes the quality of videos and connections instead of fans’ measurements. The app plans to offer various revenue flows, including advice, feed and subscriptions.

Like its competitors, Neptune has a discovery tool and a vertical food for users to pass through short videos and participate in comments. In addition, users can add a cover photo to their profiles, imitating what x and other networking applications are offering.

A key feature of Neptune is that it allows creators to hide their overall followers and like it. This feature “Ghost Metrics” is optional, however, it is designed to help users avoid the pressures associated with the number of fans, but still serve creators who may want to present their measurements.

According to the company, the Neptune algorithm emphasizes users’ interests and the quality of the content and not the popularity of the creator. Usually, social media algorithms give priority to the highest commitment content, often leaving less well-known creators or “micro-influencers”, at a disadvantage.

‘We put the power back in his hands [the creators] that really built the internet. Not the companies, not the algorithms. Neptune is for connection, not influence, “said Marketing Chief Timur Tugberk.

Another notable feature is the “hop back”, which allows users to continue watching a video exactly where they left, preventing them from losing their place when the application is renewed.

Neptune is on Beta and does not offer all its predicted features yet. It is currently on the simple side, providing only a video flow and a search feature. When testing the application, we also noticed that it has no in -application tools and immediate messaging.

The company says it is working to add a livestream possibility, the ability to create playlists and integration of music.
