Moviepass Explores A Daily Fantasy Platform For Movie Lovers

CinematicThe start of its sign with the cinema subscription service was always known for the shaking of things and its latest venture is no exception.

The company announced the beta launch on Thursday DespotA new daily fantasy entertainment platform designed specifically for the Hollywood industry.

To understand what Mogul is, it is important to first understand the concept of everyday fantastic sports. This subcategory of Fantasy Sports allows players to compete in the short term, despite a whole season. Players take on the role of team managers, creating their own dream teams consisting of real world athletes and gaining points on the way in which athletes perform in real games.

Mogul gets this idea by allowing users, who are likely to passionate fans of films who are interested in such things, acting as head of studio in the film industry. Players have budget and “studio credits” (in -game currency) to spend on the choice of actors for their championships.

Users can update the composition of cinematic actors every day. They then participate in fantasy style tournaments that last about a week, as well as one-on-one competitions and solo challenges. Participants make calls for the results of various things, such as the results of the box office, the attendance of the public, the reviews of critics and the potential winners of the awards.

As users go up, they win digital collectibles – think of posters and souvenirs – that help them climb the leaderboard.

Mogul is built on the sui, a blockchain platform and Smart Contract Layer 1 developed by Mysten Labs. Beta testers will receive a digital wallet to safely store their virtual currency, rewards and collectible coins.

Moviepass takes a bold jump with the introduction of Mogul, as has never been done before. But Spikes believe it is a huge market that is waiting to be exploited. He said: “People can mention more actors than they can probably call athletes. So I think there is a really great opportunity in the market there.”

Initially, when we first learned about Mogul, we did not predict that it would take off, at least not in the early stages. We wondered if there are many fans of films who want to compete with others about the revenue or evaluations of the box office.

However, we may have underestimated its appeal. The company claims that more than 400,000 people have already registered for the early access waiting list. It remains to see if it can maintain this level of interest that leads to official launch, but it could be popular among specialized fans of the film industry.

During our initial conversation with the spikes, he placed Mogul as a prediction platform. Later, we were told that a more appropriate description would be to classify Mogul as a daily sports fantasy platform, but it can evolve to include this functionality in the future. At present, however, Mogul operates exclusively with virtual currency.

This distinction is important, especially taking into account the regulated nature of everyday fantastic sports, as opposed to the platforms of the forecast market, which currently exist in a legal gray area. Kalshi, for example, is in ongoing legal battles with government gambling regulators.

“It’s dark what to approve. There are different types of clearing, depending on the markets you want in the US that you need to go to state from the state, literally it’s like a Chinese puzzle with things all over the country,” Spikes said.

Mogul represents the initial phase of MoviePass’s long -term Web3 strategy. The company has previously revealed its intention to provide rewards in the chain for movie watching. It is also supported by Animoca Brands, a business capital company specializing in blockchain technology.

Last year, moviepass Works with sui to allow subscribers to make payments using COIN USD.
