Creator platform Father It has released an update of its application, which now allows users to shop through the web, following the decision of the Apple-Epic court, which forced Apple to allow application developers to include links with alternative payment forms without being subject to the Apple Commission.

Previously, in Patreon’s iOS application 125.4.1, users who wanted to register with a creator’s member plan should do so using Apple in -app purchases. See below:

In the update released on Monday (Edition 125.5.0), users now have the opportunity to make a purchase through the web, where they can choose to pay with other payment methods, including credit cards, Venmo and Paypal, as well as with Apple Pay.

The option to use the purchasing method within the Apple application, meanwhile, appears only in a very small text under the larger, bold “Join” button. This change will probably direct more customers to pay through the Patreon website instead of Apple’s in -application markets.

It was achieved for comments, Patreon confirmed that the application was approved and is now circulating to US users.

Users who inform their application should see the new checkout experience within 24 hours, the company told TechCrunch. However, the company previously stated that it had submitted an information to Apple on approval that would allow internet payments and was waiting for the information to be approved.

These changes follow a major victory in a legal battle fought by Fortnite Maker Epic Games that affects the way in which application developers can process payments to iOS.

On April 30, a US court decided that Apple is no longer allowed to prevent applications from connecting to alternative payment mechanisms from their applications while still collecting commission. As a result, Apple was obliged to update the App Store Developers’ Instructions for US Developers and to recently accept refurbished applications, such as Spotify and the Amazon Kindle application, which are now linked to external websites where consumers can choose to pay applications directly.

Patreon was also Fast to celebrate the victory At that time, noting that creators could now keep more than their money if they should not pay Apple its supply of purchases.

In Another recent update shared with its community, Patreon said the transfer plan for subscription charge is waiting. Last August, Patreon said Apple had given a deadline to change all the creators in the iOS iOS market until November 2025 or to remove the risk from the App Store. Now, the company believes that this change will no longer be necessary.

“This is still a growing situation, but we are proceeding provided that the November 2025 deadline for all Patreon creators to go to subscription charge is no longer necessary,” the company said in informing a support document and a publication of a disagreement with its creators. “While additional information may emerge that change Apple’s requirements for Patreon’s iOS application, we are optimistic that this decision will give us additional flexibility to the way we support creators in heritage billing models.

Meanwhile, Patreon still offers to help creators who want to move to subscriptions.
