Reddit on Tuesday announced A new feature that will provide its users more privately privacy when it comes to what their user profiles share.
The company reports that there will be an update that will introduce a “content and activity” arrangement that allows users to decide which content from the subreddits involved will appear on their profiles. This includes both posting and comments history.
By default, all posts and comments will remain visible as before. However, the new arrangement allows users to hide all their public positions and comments, including those that have been made directly on their profiles.
Alternatively, users may decide to display selective posts and comments from specific communities on their profile while keeping the other hidden.
The setting is available under a new “Curate Your Profile” section, where users can check the visibility of their content. An option to switch to the content and activity of the NSFW is also available, as are fans who change to show or hide the number of fans.
The update adds a private life layer to Reddit that was not available before.
Previously, many Reddit users created “Throwaway” accounts when they wanted to ask more personal questions. But as Reddit transforms into more than one Technical company focusing on advertising After the iPO, it probably prefers that users’ data-such as commitment and interests-are connected to a single user profile for better advertising targeting.
Adding the feature could also encourage users to participate more on the site, as they will now know that they can kill their activity somewhat publicly.
For example, users may want to hit or ask questions about a more sensitive issue, such as the relationship or dating tips or a health issue they face. Before, they may have chosen to read the positions of others, but not participate immediately in order to maintain information from the appearance of their own user profiles.

Reddit reports that the choice of hiding or viewing posts and comments is only available on a basis per community, not at the individual level of publication or comments. This makes the settings easier to manage, even if it means that you cannot choose and choose which specific comments and publications appear and which do not.
Still, users need to know that custody choice does not mean that they have real privacy. Their username will still appear next to their positions and comments on the communities themselves. In addition, some coordinators will still have access to the user’s public position and comment history for 28 days, regardless of the visibility arrangements of the user’s content, Reddit says.
This access is useful for the coordinators who may need to review a user’s history when posting or commenting, as well as when sending the “modail”, such as requests or requests to participate in a limited community.
Profile owners will also be able to temporarily see the full posting of the user and comment history if another user comments directly their profile post, the company notes.

Along with this change, Reddit introduced updated summaries of personal activity, which provide an overview of a user’s activity, including the number of karma, total contributions, account age and active communities. The latter will be based on content and activity settings.
