The National Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA) announced slowly this week that it plans to rationalize the 555-party exemption process to become faster for automakers that want to develop self-driving vehicles manufactured without human controls such as steering wheel or pedal.
The letter sent to the “interested” (which means that companies working on AVS) is quite opaque. And manufacturers should still prove that vehicles without traditional steering wheels, driver’s brakes or mirrors that provide an equivalent level of safety as compatible vehicles and that the exception is in the public interest.
The main substance here is that NHTSA argues that the current exemption process of 555 is not suitable for automated vehicles equipped with the driving system and is a long and complex process. In short: The organization wants to accelerate things.

Sources also shared that while the Lovefrom team brought the know -how of industrial design to the effort – and apparently a cool engine design – did not participate in any UI/UX.
