Midjourney Launches The First Generation Video Ai, V1

Midjourney, one of the most popular newly established AI image companies, announced Wednesday launch of the long -awaited AI generation video model.

V1 is an image model to video, in which users can upload an image-or get an image produced by one of the other Midjourney models-and the V1 will produce a set of four five seconds based on it. Like Midjourney Image Models, V1 is only available via Discord and is only available on tissue during launch.

– Midjourney (@Midjourney) 18 June 2025

The launch of the V1 puts Midjourney in competition with AI generation models from other companies, such as Openai’s Sora, Runway’s Gen 4, Adobe’s Firefly and Google Veo 3.

The company says it has greater targets for AI video models than the creation of B-Roll for Hollywood movies or ads for the ad industry. To one blog Publication, Midjourney’s CEO David Holz says that the AI video model is the company’s next step towards its final destination, creating AI models “capable of open -world simulations in real time”.

Following AI video models, Midjourney says she plans to develop AI models for 3D visuals, as well as AI models in real time.

The release of Midjourney’s V1 model comes just a week after starting the start of two of Hollywood’s most notorious film studios: Disney and Universal. The suit claims that images created by Midjourney’s AI Image models depict the characters protected by studio copyright, such as Homer Simpson and Darth Vader.

Hollywood Studios has struggled to face the growing popularity of the AI Image and Video models they create, such as those that are being developed. There is a growing fear that these AI tools could replace or underestimate the work of the creative sectors in their respective areas and several media companies have claimed that these products are trained in copyright -protected projects.

While Midjourney has tried to fight as different from other image and videos – which focuses more on creativity than direct commercial applications – starting cannot escape these categories.

To start, Midjourney says it will charge 8 times more for a generation of video than a typical image creation, which means that subscribers will be exhausted from their monthly generations faster when creating videos from the pictures.

When launching, the cheapest way to try V1 is to register with the basic 10 per month plan of Midjourney. Midjourney’s Pro Pro Plan subscribers and the $ 120-a-month MEGA design will have unlimited generations of videos in the slower “Relax” mode of the company. Next month, Midjourney says he will re -examine his pricing for video models.

The V1 has some custom settings that allow users to check the outputs of the video model.

Users can choose an automatic animation setting to make an image move randomly or can choose a manual setting that allows users to describe, in text, a specific animation that they want to add to their video. Users can also change the amount of camera’s camera and movement by selecting “low movement” or “high movement” in the settings.

While V1 -created videos are only five seconds long, users can choose to extend them by four seconds to four times, which means that V1 videos could reach up to 21 seconds.

Like Midjourney’s AI image models, the first Demos of V1 videos look somewhat aliens, instead of surrealistic. The initial answer to V1 was positive, though it is not yet clear how well it fits with other top AI video models, which have been on the market for months or even years.
