Intel closes the car of the automotive architecture and dismisses most of its staff as part of a broader restructuring in the chipmaker.

The news was first mentioned by Oregonian/Oregon Live, which reported an internal note This was shared with the employees on Tuesday morning. Intel confirmed TechCrunch that she is planning to complete the car business was communicated internally on Tuesday.

“As we have said before, we redefine the portfolio of the basic customer and the data center to enhance our product offers and meet the needs of our customers,” according to a statement from the company provided by the spokesman Cory Pforzheimer. “As part of this project, we have decided to evolve in the car business in our Customer Computer Group. We are committed to securing a smooth transition for our customers.”

Pforzheimer said the company does not disclose the number of affected employees based on a specific area, location or business.

Intel’s car business may not be the dominant revenue generator in the semiconductor company, but the division is active in automated vehicle technology and the emerging trend of “software -determined vehicles”.

Intel has made numerous millions of dollars in the automotive industry, especially during the aggressive and first days of autonomous vehicle technology that began around 2015. Its profile was articulated after Intel acquired by Mobileye in 2017 for $ 15.3 billion in a $ 15.3 billion. Mobileye will later escape as an autonomous company negotiating the public, in which Intel is an important shareholder. In 2020, Intel’s car operation acquired Moovit in an agreement that has been assigned Israeli starting at $ 900 million.

The redundancies come six months after Intel’s car company presented its technology at the Global Tech Trade Show CES 2025. Intel Automotive, while there was no one of the company’s sovereignty, tried to sell automotives in vehicle technology software, which included an AI-reinforced system of vehicle-on April.

But the future of the department seemed unstable until April-even when he met with Chinese automakers at the Shanghai Auto Show-when the new CEO Lip-Bu Tan warned Intel officials of layoffs throughout the company due to sales and sales fall.

Earlier this month, the company said it was planning to dismiss 15% to 20% of the Intel Foundry employees starting in July. The designs, manufacturers and semiconductors for Intel Foundry’s external customers.
