Hug He is ready for developers to start crumpling and testing the latest robotics version.

The AI development platform announced on Wednesday that it is now accepting orders for Reachy Mini’s work robots. The company initially introduced the originals of these devices in May, along with a larger humanoid robot called HOPEJR.

Hugging Face said it plans to release two versions of the Mini Reachy. The first, called Accene Mini Wireless, is wireless and costs $ 449 and runs on a Raspberry 5 mini computer. The second version is the mini lite, which must be connected to a computer source, but is cheaper at $ 299.

The open source robots come into a kit for developers to build themselves. The minis reachy is about the size of a standard filled animal and come with two eyes screens and two antennas.

Once constructed, these robots are fully programmable in Python. These devices also have a set of pre -installed demos and are incorporated into The Facial hugThe Company’s Open Code Machine Learning Platform, which gives users access to more than 1.7 million AI models and more than 400,000 sets of data.

Clém Delangue, chief executive of Hugging Face, told TechCrunch that they decided to launch two reachy mini versions based on initial feedback for the company’s original prototype. A first tester found that their five -year -old daughter wanted to be able to take the surface of the desktop around the house with her. The company thought it wouldn’t be the only one.

“The goal in the future is to continue to take many comments from users, from the community, so we have always manufactured products on Hugging Face as an open source community platform,” Delangue said. “By the nature of the open source, this means that people will be able to expand, modify it, change whatever they want.”

The target audience for these devices are AI developers, Delangue said. Reachy Minis allows users to codify, create and test AI applications on the surface robot.

“Anyone who is able to create his own specific features and applications for the Reachy Mini that will then be able to share with the community,” Delangue said. “So we hope that it will really launch the creativity of manufacturers to build, you know, millions of different applications, millions of different features that can be shared with the community, so that everyone can, as they can dip and play with it.”

The Reachy Mini Lite will have to start shipping next month, with the wireless version later this year. Delangue said it was important for the company to start shipping shortly after orders, as opposed to a long pre-order process with a vague timetable because they want to get the robots in the hands of users as quickly as possible.

Delangue added that this liberation is really in line with Whatging Face is aimed at the Robotics Program in general – open source material that gives users complete control.

“I feel as if it is really important for the future of robotics to be an open source, instead of being a closed source, black box, [and] Concentrated in the hands of some companies, “Delangue said.” I think it is a very scary world to have millions of robots in the home of people controlled by a company, with customers, users, not to really control them, understand them. I would rather live in a place or in a world or in a country where everyone can have some control over the robots. ”
