After the start of the new Instagram operation, which looks like Instagram’s “Map Map”, which allows us to share their latest active location with others and discover the content based on locations-the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri must reassure people that they are only to be reassured. Although Meta made it clear that location sharing is out of default, there have been many posts In the social media Urging users to turn off location sharing, incorrectly claims that is automatically enabled.

“We are double control everything, but so far it mainly seems that people are confused and assume that, because they can see themselves on the map when they open, other people can also see them,” Mosseri told a Post threads. “We are still checking everything to make sure no one is sharing the location without explicitly deciding to do so, which, incidentally, requires dual design consent (we ask you to confirm after you say you want to share).”

Mosseri also said that some People “get confused” How the operation works. For example, people have access to the feature and then see the map inhabited with the location information of some users. This is due to the fact that the operation automatically draws on location labels from recently posted stories or roles that include a label site.

It is worth noting that this is not new, as Instagram already had location visible to users on display. However, the new Instagram map makes this information much easier to access. The new feature can make you think again if you want to post your stories and wheels with location labels (especially if you are still on the site).

If you turn on your location on the Instagram map, your location is only updated when you open the application or run it in the background, which means that it does not provide continuous site updates in real time. This is different from Snap Map, which allows users to choose whether their location is only updated when they open the application or in real time.

For those who want to ensure that their location is disabled on the Instagram map, we will walk you in the steps below.

How to get access to the Instagram map

To access the new feature, you must browse the DMS page and press the new “map” option at the top. If this is the first time you have access to the operation, you will probably see a pop-up message that alerts you to the new map.

The pop-up will tell you that no one can see your location until you share it with them and that you can change your settings at any time.

How to set up location exchange preferences

The first time you open the map, you will see a page that reads “Who can see your location”. From there, you can choose to share it with your friends (the fans you follow), your close friends list, choose users or no one.

To change your preferences, you need to click on your profile, click the Settings in the upper right corner, select the “Story, Live and Location” option, and then press the “Share Location” button. Here, you will be able to change your settings.

Note that if you have turned off the location sharing, others can still share their position with you, which means you will be able to see them on the map.

How to use Instagram Map

When you open the app you will see the locations of friends who have shared their location with you. You will also see location -based stories and roles from people you follow.

For example, if your friend watched a nearby music festival and published a story while there he will appear on the map. Similarly, if a creator is following a cylinder about a new restaurant in your city, you will be able to discover it on Map Instagram.

You will also see the content -based content on the map, even if you have turned off your location.

You can also leave soon, ephemeral messages or “notes” on the map to see others. Instagram notes are the short messages present at the top of your direct message flow, but with the release of Map Instagram, you will now see these posts on the map if they share with a site.
