California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Attorney General Delaware Kathy Jennings met and sent one open letter Openai to express their concerns about the safety of Chatgpt, especially for children and adolescents.

The warning comes a week after Bonta and 44 other general lawyers sent a letter to 12 of the top AI companies, following reports of sexually inappropriate interactions between AI Chatbots and children.

“From the publishing of this letter, we have learned about the heart death from the suicide of a young Californian, as he had prolonged interactions with an Openai Chatbot, as well as a similar worrying murder-self-sufficient in Connecticut,” they write. “Whatever the safeguards were not working.”

The two state officials are currently investigating the proposed restructuring of the Openai in a speculative entity to ensure that the mission of the non -profit organization remains intact. This mission “includes securing artificial intelligence safely” and artificial general intelligence (AGI) to benefit from all humanity “, including children” by letter.

“Before we get to take advantage, we must ensure that there are sufficient security measures to avoid harm,” the letter continues. “It is our common view that Openai and the industry in general are not where it should be to ensure safety in the development and development of AI products.

Bonta and Jennings have requested more information on current security precautions and Openai’s government and said they were expecting the company to take immediate corrective measures where it is indicated.

Bret Taylor, chairman of the Openai Council, said in a statement that the company was committed to dealing with the concerns of the Attorney General.

“We are broken by these tragedies and our deepest sympathies are with families,” Taylor said. “Security is our highest priority and we work closely with policymakers around the world.”

Openai said he is working to extend adolescent protection with parental controls and parents’ ability to be notified when their child is at a time of acute discomfort.
