Meta unveiled on Wednesday a new pair of smart Ray-Ban-based glasses with a built-in display for applications, alerts and instructions on the right lens. Smart glasses are controlled by a bracelet that gets the subtle gestures, called Meta Neural Band, the same that Connect presented last year as part of the Orion demo.

Managing Director Mark Zuckerberg has announced the new product, called Meta Ray-Ban Display, on stage at the company’s annual program conference, Meta Connect 2025.

This is Meta’s latest attempt to carry a pair of smart consumer glasses that can handle many of the tasks they traditionally do on a smartphone. For years, Meta has been forced to reach users through its competitors’ devices, that is, those sold by Google and Apple. While Meta has invested billions in virtual reality headphones, smart AI glasses now look like the most promising way for the company to connect with users to its own material.

With the Meta Ray-Ban display, Meta aims to build the success of the original Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses, which the company has sold million pairs with his partner, Essilorluxottica. Like Ray-Ban Meta, the Meta Ray-Ban screen is equipped with an AI AI assistant, as well as cameras, speakers and microphones. Glasses allow users to connect to the cloud to access Internet and Social Media applications.

Meta says the screen allows users to do much more with their smart glasses. Users are able to display post -applications such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Users can also see instructions and see live translations on the screen of smart glasses.

The nervous zone that carries next to the device looks like a fitbit, but without a screen and allows users to navigate in applications with small hand movements. Zuckerberg told the stage that the post -nervous band has 18 hours of battery life and is water -resistant.

The device uses electromyography (EMG) to receive signals sent between your brain and your hand when performing a gesture. Meta bets that this interface will be a new way in which users can control their devices.

Earlier this week, a video leak Meta’s latest smart glasses. CNBC and Bloomberg have previously reported that smart glasses, which were indoors Hypernova, will be revealed at this year’s Connect Congress.

It is worth noting that the Meta Ray-Ban display is much less capable than the Meta Smart Glasses Orion that appeared in Connect 2024. This device included eye reality and eye-watch lenses, while this pair uses a much simpler screen. It may be years ago Meta ever sells orion.

Still, Meta hopes to win the smart glasses race, is the first to market with a real product. However, it seems likely that Google and Apple will start smart glasses in their coming years. These devices will undoubtedly be able to be integrated into Google and Apple’s corresponding operating systems, giving them an important foot above the meta.
