YouTube will eventually allow you to hide the emerging recommendations at the end of the videos, the company announced on Wednesday. Now, when you see a final screen, you can press a new “Hide” button in the upper right corner of video playback to hide the pop -up windows from the current video you watch.
Choosing this button will only hide the screens for the current video you watch, not all the videos on the platform, the company notes. If you want to reset the final screen, you can press the display button.
The decision to let users hide finals is a welcome addition to the platform, especially because they can end up covering the last piece of a video and finding it difficult to see what is happening in some cases.
The company also announced that it removes the registration button that appears when you place your cursor over the branded watermark of a video. YouTube explains that it does this because there is already a record button just below the video player.
YouTube says it is starting new features in response to users’ comments, as many people said they wanted the choice to minimize distractions in the videos and to make it easier to focus on the content they are currently watching.
As for the creators, YouTube notes that they still have the option of adding final video screens. The company expects that these changes will have a minimal impact on creators’ performance and platform projection.
For example, YouTube was found in an experiment that providing users of the final screens resulted in a reduction of less than 1.5% on views from the final screens. In addition, he found that less than ~ 0.05% of all channel subscription subscriptions come from the functionality of the right -hander to recording the video watermark.
