Openai is promoted to host the third annual developer conference, Devday 2025, Monday. The company reports that more than 1,500 people are scheduled to convene at Fort Mason in San Francisco for the “biggest event of Openai”, which has announcements, basically from Openai executives and a Fireside conversation between CEO Sam Altman and long -term designer Apple Jony Ive.

From its sound, Devday 2025 is shaped to be a great depiction of Openai’s growing domination in Silicon Valley against giants such as Apple, Google and Meta. Openai currently creates an AI device, a social media application and a browser that is powered by AI to take over Chrome. In other words, Openai has much more than during its first Devday in 2023, when it was mostly chatgpt and an API business for developers to access its models.

At the same time, Openai is facing more competition than ever in trying to win developers.

Last year, ANTHROPIC and Google AI models have become increasingly capable of coding and designing and designing websites. Openai was forced to release better AI models at lower prices to stay in the race. In the background, Meta has created an impressive list of Talent AI in its new team, Meta Superintelligence Labs, which could become another threat to Openai in the near future.

Openai was unveiled in his first Devday in 2023 a new AI model, the GPT-4 turbo, and Altman shared his vision for a market AI agents called the GPT store. Altman was removed as CEO days later – only to return after a dramatic weekend of negotiations. In 2024, Openai responded with a more sluggish conference, announcing some major developer upgrades, such as an API for AI voice applications, but not many more.

Nothing is confirmed to start Devday 2025, promoting many rumors. Perhaps Openai will eventually reveal the browser with the AI operating, or perhaps updating the AI device built with Ive and former Apple executives. It is also likely that there could be some updates on the GPT store, which Openai has just discussed since it started last year.

TechCrunch will be on the ground in San Francisco that covers the live event so you can check back here for all the news. Here’s what you need to know about Openai’s Devday and how to watch it.

Devday 2025 starts at 10am. On October 6, with a central point that opens from Altman, where he is scheduled to reveal “announcements, live demos and a vision of how developers reshape the future with AI”. Keynote will take about an hour and will be alive Openai’s YouTube Page.

This is the only event that will experience for remote participants.

For staff participants, there will be presentations and conversations by the CEO Michael Truell, the mayor of San Francisco Daniel Lurie and investment partner Kimberly Tan, Andreessen Horowitz. Several Openai employees will also give speeches on their work, including Laurentia Romaniuk and Codex Lead Alexander Embiricos.

It is also assumed to be a series of Sideshows powered by AI on Devday 2025. One of them is “Sora Cinema”, which is described as a “hot mini theater with popcorn” with short films created by the Openai Video Model, Sora. It is also assumed to be a telephone chamber with a “live portrait” of the renowned computer scientist Alan Turing “talking back”.

Later in the afternoon, there will be two big events to cover Devday. These last two events will not be alive, but will be posted on YouTube later that day.

At 3:15 pm, there will be a “Union programmer status” with the president of Openai Greg Brockman and Olivier Godment, who heads a product for the OpenAi platform. The two Openai executives are paved in “Demo New Opportunities” and share what is ahead for the developers.

Finally, at 4:15 pm PT, Altman and Ive will give a “chat chat” to discuss the “building boat in the AI era”. This conversation will take about 45 minutes.

UPDATE 10/3/25: Openai updated the list of participants for Devday 2025. This story has been updated to reflect the change.
